Welcome to 2012

The new year is upon us and we hope that all our clients had a wonderful festive season and have returned home safely well rested and ready for the year ahead.

Most of you are probably back at work and dreaming about being on holiday but fear not your next holiday may be closer then you think. Especially if you book a holiday through one of Sure Maritime Travels friendly consultants. Why you may ask? Well its rather simple, Sure Maritime Travel has dubbed 2012 as the Year To See the World, and with the amazing special offers we have lined up for the year, its going to be really affordable to take another holiday.

To wet your appetite we have provided a modified list courtesy of Readers Digest of our Sure Maritime Travel top 5 Holiday Destinations for 2012.

1. Turkey
Mixing ancient history and a rich Islamic culture with fabulous food and modern nightlife it’s no wonder Turkey’s capital, Istanbul, frequently tops ‘favourite cities’ lists. Take a walking/shopping tour through the famous Grand Bazaar (Kapalı Çarşı), and be sure to visit the historical Sultan Ahmed Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque, which was built in the early 1600s.

2. Laos
With crowded cities, abusive street-hawkers and chaotic traffic, travel in Southeast Asia can be exhausting. In contrast, a visit to the tiny land-locked country of Laos allows weary travellers a chance to lay back and smell the frangipanis. Life in Laos moves at an unusually languid pace, and must-see highlights include the beautiful ancient capital of Luang Prubang, with its 32 temples and streets full of saffron-robed monks, and the lush scenery of nature reserves such as Nam Ha Npa.

Florence is one of the many cities I would love to visit in Italy. Its amazing food, wine, culture, sights and history entices me just like the rest of Italy. There are just so many wonderful places to visit in Italy that I would love to do a road trip across the entire Italian peninsula one of these days.

4. Iceland
The bizarre and spectacular landscapes of Iceland have seen it included in many top travel lists for 2012. Away from the exciting capital of Reykjavik, you can find snow-capped mountains, majestic glaciers, lava fields and other natural wonders so fantastically weird they’ve inspired their own folklore. 2012 will also see increased activity in volcanoes and the northern lights.

5. London
London is one of those cities where you feel as if you’re at the centre of the universe. That feeling will only be more pronounced in 2012, as all eyes look to the host city of the XXX Olympic Games. Lovers of all things Royal should time their trip to coincide with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June – celebrations will mark her 60 years on the throne.
